Regarding Public Interference

In the recent past there has been interference with fire department personnel acting in official capacities. This potentially endangers life and property of the community. The following is a copy of the Colorado Revised Statute as has been distributed by the Park County Sheriff's Office to their Deputies.


CRS 18-8-104: Obstructing a peace officer, firefighter, emergency medical services provider, rescue specialist, or volunteer.
(1) (a) A person commits obstructing a peace officer, firefighter, emergency medical services provider, rescue specialist, or volunteer when, by using or threatening to use violence, force physical interference, or an obstacle, such person knowingly obstructs, impairs or hinder the enforcement of the penal law or preservation of peace by a peace officer, acting under color of his or her authority, knowingly obstructs, impairs, or hinders thr prevention, control, or abatement of a fire by a firefighter, acting under color or his or her official authority.


This Statute applies to private as well as public property.
